Welcome to FictionFlux. By creating an account or using the platform (the web app, the mobile apps, or any API surface) you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, don't use the service.
1. Who we are
FictionFlux is a reading platform for serialised fiction and complete books. Authors publish their work through our sister product, FireForge, and may opt to monetise it on FictionFlux. We act as the operator of the platform — we are not the publisher of individual works.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Some content is rated mature (16+) or explicit (18+); we gate access by age confirmation and we may require additional verification for explicit content. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for activity under your account.
3. Coins, purchases, and refunds
Coins are a virtual in-platform currency. There are two balances: regular coins (purchased) and bonus coins (earned through ads or in-app tasks). You can spend regular coins on chapter unlocks, read licenses, and download licenses; downloads require regular coins only. Coins have no cash value outside the platform, are non-transferable, and cannot be exchanged for currency.
Refunds. Where the law requires us to offer a refund (for example, EU consumer rights for digital goods not yet delivered), we will honour it. Otherwise: chapter-unlock and read-license spends can be reversed within 24 hours of purchase if you have not yet consumed substantial content. Download licenses are considered final once the file is delivered. Promotional reads (free during a promo window) cannot be refunded as no coins were spent.
Mobile billing. On iOS and Android, coins are sold through Apple In-App Purchase and Google Play Billing respectively; their pricing differs from web pricing to reflect platform fees. Refunds for mobile purchases are subject to Apple and Google's policies — please contact them first.
4. Content and licenses
Authors retain copyright in their work. When you buy a read or download license, you receive a personal, non-commercial, non-transferable licence to read (or, for downloads, retain a copy of) that work. You may not redistribute, resell, commercially exploit, or publicly perform the work, and you may not strip DRM-related attribution from downloaded files.
You may have your own profile and post comments and ratings on works. By posting user-generated content (reviews, comments, ratings) you grant FictionFlux a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, reproduce, and display that content on the platform.
5. Acceptable use
- No scraping the platform or its content.
- No reselling or redistributing works you've licensed.
- No circumventing payment, paywalls, or DRM-related controls.
- No uploading or sharing illegal content, including CSAM, harassment, or threats.
- No impersonation, account-sharing, or automated coin farming.
- No reverse-engineering the apps or APIs except as the law expressly allows.
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate accounts that violate these rules or that abuse the platform.
6. Author monetisation & payouts
Authors who opt to monetise on FictionFlux do so under our separate Author Agreement. Royalties are computed in coins, converted to local currency at a published rate, and paid out monthly subject to KYC and the minimum payout threshold described in that agreement. We may withhold payouts where required by law (sanctions, tax, fraud).
7. Reports, takedowns & DMCA
If you believe content on FictionFlux infringes your rights, send a DMCA notice with the required information to abuse@fictionflux.com. We respond to valid notices, may take down content, and forward counter-notices to the uploader. Repeat infringers will be terminated.
8. Termination & account deletion
You may end your relationship with FictionFlux at any time. To delete your account see our Account Deletion page (you do not need to be signed in to request deletion). Deletion anonymises your profile, severs sessions, removes your reading progress, and disassociates your engagement (comments, ratings) from your identity within 30 days. Limited financial records (wallet, purchases) are retained for tax and audit purposes for up to 7 years.
9. Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of these Terms is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim and ₦20,000 (or local-currency equivalent). We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Disputes are resolved in the courts of Lagos State, subject to your mandatory consumer-protection rights in your country of residence.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced in-app at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after that date is acceptance of the updated Terms.
